THE ROLE
The Plant Manager will effectively manage the daily plant operations to ensure maximum production of quality products in accordance with company goals and objectives. This includes optimizing resources to profitably meet or exceed all internal and external customer expectations. This is achieved through the focus of a zero-loss manufacturing culture with an emphasis on continuous improvement and delivering world class performance. The Plant Manager oversees all plant operations, including but not limited to production, QC/QA, maintenance, sanitation, inventory control, all shipping and receiving and all levels of management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plant Operation Duties:
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures related to plant operations.
• Directs and approves purchasing of appropriate materials/supplies in a timely manner to meet customer and/or company objectives.
• Ensures production equipment/machinery is properly maintained, repaired, or replaced as necessary to maintain smooth daily plant operations.
• Make recommendations and support engineering of all existing equipment upgrades and new equipment installation.
• Understand, promote, assist, and adhere to all Environmental, Health and Safety Principles and be accountable to always conforming to them. Be accountable for assuring compliance with policies and support the facility safety, environmental and health programs.
• Formulates and approves short and long-term operating objectives in areas such as cost reduction, quality improvement, food safety, employee's safety, maintenance, new product development and/or integration at the plant level.
Management Duties:

• Responsible for creating a plant environment where employees are involved in creating a safe, clean, and team-oriented workplace.
• Ensure excellence in performance and continuity of management through the effective selection, development, and motivation of a team of employees organized to optimize individual and group capabilities.
• Direct and delegate activities of plant personnel
• Hires, assures appropriate training, and evaluates job performance of plant personnel in coordination with Human Resources.
• Controls allocation and use of personnel to ensure fulfillment of production schedules in a cost effective manner.
• Promotes a workplace safety culture, including conducting regular scheduled safety training and improvements to provide a safe working environment.
• Conducts regular scheduled departmental meetings enhancing communication throughout the plant.
• Ensures adherence to all established company policies and procedures through specialized training of supervisors. OSHA
• Ensure HAACP/SQF compliance.
• Collaborate with Human Resources and other function leaders to create and execute effective employee relations processes and develop managers to do the same to maintain a positive working environment.
• Drive a culture of high performance and accountability in employee and product safety as well as other aspects of the business.
• Responsible for annual plant operating goals and strategic initiatives as agreed upon with executive team.
Administrative Duties:
• Responsible for the recommendation and assessment of training needs
• Analyzes, develops, and prepares the plant operating expense budget, monitoring and investigating discrepancies as situations arise.
• Prepares plant performance information for review by management and other reports as requested.
• Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements, as required, including environmental.
• Provides a leadership role in the integration of efforts throughout the plant promoting a positive work atmosphere.
• Promotes a positive image of the company, through community involvement.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science, or a technical field is ideal. Relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Previous Food Manufacturing experience required; baking experience is highly desired.
• Demonstrated track record leading the improvement of operations while delivering day to day performance.
• Familiarity with the operations of all plant departments: production, quality, maintenance, materials management, etc.
• Participative management style and excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience building a cohesive management team.
• Strong business acumen and working knowledge process control and improvement tools. • Ability to communicate both professionally and effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
