Our client is currently seeking a Senior Highway Design Engineer to join their Fairfax County office. Our client is a dynamic, multidisciplinary engineering, planning, survey, and design consultancy with an employee-centric culture and a community-driven portfolio. Their transportation planning and design team offers services to public agencies and private developers in the Northern Virginia Area. Their approach is to develop creative alternative solutions while enhancing public safety and improving traffic flow. As a Senior Highway Design Engineer, you will collaborate with internal team leaders to take on the following:
Essential Responsibilities:
Oversee the preparation, planning, and development of project design elements including, but not limited to:
- Roadway and trail systems including geometry, vertical alignments, super-elevation, cross sections & traffic management.
- Open and closed storm drainage systems including stormwater management.
- Hydrology and Hydraulic (H&H) Computations.
- “Wet” and “Dry” Utilities
- Oversee and guide others’ designs, modeling, and technical documents.
- Cultivate and uphold a positive team culture.
- Train and mentor new and junior level staff members.
- Increase presence and leadership in transportation services through involvement in civic, political, professional and business organizations.
- Utilize accounting and project management system to prepare client invoices and to understand, and improve, project fiscal performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 + years of experience within transportation design.
- A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- In possession or pursuit of P.E
- Experience in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Possess a solid understanding of the engineering fundamentals related to transportation engineering.
- Exemplary teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
