Position Summary
The Technical Sales Engineer is a key piece to the success in selling Canadian Solar's Residential Energy Storage product: EP Cube. In this role, you'll use your existing knowledge of Energy Storage products to support your designated Regional Sales Manager by sharing your technical knowledge of solar products during sales presentations and throughout the sales cycle. This position will travel to meet with customers located across any of the Hawaii Islands approximately 40% of the year. When you're not in the field, this position has flexibility to work from home.
Sales Support
- Provide technical sales support and 1st level contact for Regional Sales Managers for technical or contract related questions
- Visit customers together with sales managers and conduct product presentations
- Host customer training sessions, webinars and support customer events
- Present PV project designs and proposal support
- Work within the Product Management and Technical Services teams in North America and collaborate with HQ teams
- Be proficient reviewing PV simulation tools supporting Residential PV and storage system design and production/economic analysis
Product Launch & Ready-For-Sales Support
- Development of technical sales tools and/or demonstration kit
- Development of technical sales documentation
- Develop product training materials for customer and their potential end-use customers, including home-owners and installers
- General knowledge of complete PV ecosystems including MLPE, Racking, and other Balance-Of-System components.
- Support scheduling needs in the sales through installation phases of the projects.
- Advocate of customer needs and requirements
- Follow codes and certifications as they develop; analyze their impact on the market and specific products; make recommendations to management on how to leverage these developments to CSI’s benefit
- Work with the marketing team to launch and communicate new products and their features and measure the introduction and sales success of the existing and new products
Sales Contract Support
- Define, clarify and optimize technical terms within the contract negotiation in alignment with sales
- Project manage fulfillment of AVL requirements and related collaterals
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in sales engineering, technical sales, technical sales support or product management, in the energy storage sector within the PV industry
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business discipline is preferred
- Installation or design experience with PV module and residential battery storage system or residential backup generation systems is a strong plus
- Reliable transportation and ability/willingness to travel (up to 40%); flexible hours may be needed for occasional customer dinners. Mileage and expenses are reimbursed regularly.
- Experience presenting to B2B customers face to face, in casual or formal settings, in order to generate new business leads in the residential energy storage sector
- Excellent technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn detailed information about the existing product portfolio and to communicate and answer technical and product related questions and topics
- Understanding and ability to calculate financial benefits of the systems – product cost and product sales price definition, analysis and recommendation
- Convincingly and effectively communicate with customers, installer, homeowners, Residential PV integrators, industry working groups and regulatory authorities
- Excellent social and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with others effectively, also over multiple time zones and with different cultures
- Excellent organizational, strategic planning and implementation skills
Compensation & Benefits
Canadian Solar offers a competitive salary plus fully comprehensive benefits and performance bonus package based on an annual objective achievement. Our generous benefits package includes a 401(k) Retirement Plan, medical/dental/life/disability program, PTO and sick days. This is a full-time salaried position.
The pay range for this position is $85,000.00 to $105,000.00. This range represents annual base salary only, without regard to location, and does not include quarterly bonuses or incentives or benefits that may apply. The pay range for this role is subject to change.
