Job Title: Senior Data Center Construction Manager (Owner’s Representative)

Position Overview: The Senior Data Center Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and construction of our client’s data center facilities. This role requires extensive experience in data center construction management, specifically within the data center sector, and will involve coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Management:
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Oversee the entire construction process from pre-construction to project closeout.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications.
- Facilitate regular meetings with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to review progress and address any issues.
- Ensure alignment of project objectives with client expectations and organizational goals.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce strict quality control measures throughout the construction process.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and within the approved limits.
- Approve expenditures, monitor financial performance, and report on budget variances.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to achieve cost-effective solutions.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of construction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to succeed.
- Evaluate team performance and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
Technology and Innovation:
- Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in data center construction and incorporate best practices into projects.
- Leverage technology and innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years specifically in data center construction.
- Experience building and leading construction project management teams performing on similar projects.
- Expert proficiency in Procore for comprehensive document management and project financial oversight. All tasks related to document handling and financial management will be executed through this platform.
- In-depth expertise in data center infrastructure and equipment. Capable of succinctly summarizing critical equipment from substation utility to the rack.
- Advanced ability to comprehend and analyze project schedules with precision.
- Proven capability to articulate the essential roles within an ideal project team, including project scheduler, project manager, quality assurance/control, health & safety inspector, and commissioning. Able to discuss the responsibilities and significance of each role effectively.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices in data center construction.
- Excellent project management skills, including proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) are advantageous.
