Quality Control Inspector

Position Overview: The quality control inspector position is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of TASSCO’s products throughout the manufacturing process. The position requires a keen eye for detail, knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with manufacturing and engineering teams to maintain TASSCO’s high standards of quality.
Tasks & Duties:
- Perform inspections of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Interpret and understand job requirements and technical drawings to effectively carry out inspections.
- Conduct quality checks and tests, using measuring tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry regulations.
- Document and report inspection results, including any defects or discrepancies, and work with the manufacturing team to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection data and quality control documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input for continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure designs meet technical specifications and standards.
- Understand steel fabrication and machine shop practices to recognize capabilities and limitations of equipment and raw materials.
- Effectively communicate with other TASSCO employees, customers, and salespeople to provide information and guidance professionally regarding quality specifications and job requirements.
- Demonstrate and improve upon product and service knowledge and capabilities to enhance TASSCO’s business opportunities with new and existing customers.
Required Skills:
- 2-5 years of experience in quality control and inspection practices for steel plate and structural steel components in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience and / or interest in welding.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools and inspection equipment.
- Knowledge of plate steel design and fabrication.
- Proven ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as laser cutting, welding, and CNC machining.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot quality issues.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- A minimum of (3) years prior experience in steel fabrication manufacturing or other similar production tasks. OR minimum of (1) year experience in steel fabrication manufacturing or other similar production tasks with an associate degree.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with ERP software.
- Bachelors or Technical Degree in a related field.
- American Wedler Society (CAWI/CWI): Possession of an American Welding Society’s Certified Welding Inspector is a strong plus, showcasing knowledge of AWS D1.1 structural welding code.
