Sr. Director of Manufacturing Operations
Location: Taunton, MA
Overview
This senior leadership role is responsible for the overall performance of a manufacturing facility. You will lead a team to achieve excellence in safety, sustainability, cost control, quality, and customer service. You'll also foster a positive and inclusive work environment for a highly skilled workforce.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute multi-year operational strategies aligned with global goals for safety, sustainability, quality, service, cost, and working capital.
- Production Management: Oversee production planning, scheduling, and execution to meet customer demand efficiently. Manage materials, equipment, and human resources effectively.
- Financial Performance: Drive financial performance through effective P&L management, budgeting, and cost control.
- New Product Introduction: Lead successful product launches by collaborating with R&D to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and cost targets.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Work with global teams to optimize the supply chain for efficient and cost-effective operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste, improve efficiency, and drive employee engagement.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to safety, customer supply, business continuity, finances, quality, and regulations.
- Technology Integration: Champion the adoption of new technologies (automation, digital solutions) to enhance resource utilization and efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team through coaching, development, and performance management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to cGMP, IVDR, FDA, OSHA, EPA, ISO standards, and other applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Chemistry (MBA preferred)
- 15+ years of experience in operations management, with 10+ years in a chemical process environment (batch processing preferred)
- Strong understanding of chemical and engineering principles
- Proven change management and leadership skills for developing and motivating high-performing teams
- Knowledge of ISO quality standards (9001, 13485), good manufacturing practices, and data integrity
- Experience in new product introductions and working with R&D for successful product launches
- Experience in leading teams for qualification and validation of new processes/equipment in chemical batch processing
- Proven track record of continuous improvement through implementing best-in-class manufacturing practices and technologies
- Ability to lead and achieve ambitious goals for safety, quality, service, and cost
- Strong understanding and experience with Lean manufacturing principles (6S, PDCA, Visual Management, Standard Work, Kaizen, TPM)
- Results-oriented leader with a strong process focus, able to see the big picture and achieve short-term and long-term goals
- Proven ability to develop and empower teams for sustained operational excellence
