We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our team at Spencer Ogden to support a leader in the downstream space. The Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our plant's electrical systems. This individual will work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain electrical systems that support production processes, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Implementation: Develop electrical system designs and specifications for equipment and facility upgrades, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintenance Support: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues to minimize downtime and optimize plant operations. Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams.
- Project Management: Lead and support electrical projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination with internal teams and external contractors.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, motors, and instrumentation.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all electrical systems are designed and maintained to meet safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NEC) and environmental regulations. Conduct risk assessments and ensure electrical systems comply with company policies.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, energy savings, and cost reductions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including electrical schematics, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance records.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions for electrical systems and equipment issues.
- Vendor Management: Work with external vendors and contractors for system upgrades, repairs, and purchasing electrical components.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a chemical manufacturing, industrial, or similar heavy industry setting.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in electrical design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM)
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, motor control, PLCs, and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE)
- Experience with DCS/SCADA systems is a plus.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and provide innovative solutions.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Safety Awareness: In-depth knowledge of electrical safety practices and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in chemical manufacturing, refining, or petrochemical industries.
- Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and equipment.
- Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and predictive maintenance techniques.
