DOCSIS Engineer
Optomi, in partnership with a client in the telecommunications industry, is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer III to join the client's Englewood, CO office. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in troubleshooting and optimizing complex network infrastructures. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of network protocols and technologies and will be pivotal in managing and enhancing our network services. This position requires a proactive problem-solver with extensive experience in both hands-on technical support and strategic planning.
Qualifications of the Right Candidate:
- 10 years in network engineering with a focus on troubleshooting and optimizing network infrastructures.
- Advanced knowledge of DOCSIS and EPON standards, CMTS platforms (Casa C100G, Arris E6000, Cisco cBR8), RPHY systems (Harmonic vCMTS, Vecima RPDs), EPON platforms (ADTRAN 95XX, SDX-6210, Vecima 7360, Distributed Access Architecture SF-4x, SC-2D3), and switch platforms (Cisco NCS/ASR, Juniper PTX/QFX/ACX).
- Proficiency in OSPF, ISIS, BGP, and v4/v6 Multicast.
- Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation and test plans.
- Experience with CPE and ONU troubleshooting is highly desirable. Strong creative network troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues related to Access and CPE devices.
- Perform assessments on existing technologies to identify and address performance and capacity gaps.
- Establish and manage security, connectivity, and access parameters to ensure optimal network performance.
- Provide recommendations for optimizing network infrastructure and implement communications technologies for data and voice.
- Program and configure routers and switches to align with network requirements.
- Manage network services throughout the planning, implementation, and operational phases.
- Test, tune, and maintain security devices and systems to safeguard network integrity.
- Develop and follow detailed technical test plans, ensuring thorough documentation of processes and results.
