DESCRIPTION
Ring is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Senior Technical Program Manager with excellent technical program management skills and a background in software engineering to join Ring’s Cloud Engineering Team.
In this senior role, you will work with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical stakeholders to define strategy, capture requirements, anticipate bottlenecks, plan for dependencies, mitigate project risks, and interpret, communicate, and drive full lifecycle software engineering programs. You will work with Product, Software (Mobile Apps, Cloud) and Hardware (Firmware) Engineering teams to evaluate and develop device-related features and services. You will provide technical leadership that gets software applications built and integrated. One of your primary responsibilities will be to collaborate with engineering leadership and drive programs to simplify our cloud stack and best meet the needs of the business. Other responsibilities will include collaborating across a variety of Ring and Amazon engineering teams as we continue to launch industry-first affordable smart security solutions.
Key job responsibilities
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with technical and non-technical teams responsible for launching new devices and features across remote and multi-site teams
* Own delivery of large and impactful program initiatives, while accurately tracking a set of smaller projects
* Scope, plan, implement, and deliver software programs efficiently and successfully while collaborating with product, engineering, business stakeholders, and senior leadership in order to align with strategic vision and goals
* Drive strategic planning, working closely with engineering to develop feature plans, roadmaps, dependency identifications, and resourcing plans
* Lead technical design reviews, lead deep dive assessments and leverage data to identify success criteria, trends and insights
* Evaluate solution designs and complex business and technical requirements and communicate any program risks and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Good judgment and proven ability to influence without authority
* Communicate clearly and effectively to management about plans, status, and critical issues
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience with service-oriented architectures and and cloud technologies/development
- Work with remote and multi-site teams to deliver related system components
- 6+ years of software engineering experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills
- Experience driving large scale enterprise projects as a Technical Program Manager
- Skilled in risk management and making complex technical/risk trade-off recommendations and decisions
- Good judgment and proven ability to influence without authority
- Independently driven, resourceful, and able to deliver results with minimal direction
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with developers, product managers, and senior business and engineering leaders
- High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
