We are working with an up and coming insurance provider seeking to expand their legal team with a Senior Counsel. In this role, you will be crucial in managing and resolving claims, ensuring that our policyholders receive the support they need. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in claims management and a deep understanding of insurance law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze, and manage a wide range of insurance claims, including property, liability, and auto claims.
- Provide legal guidance to claims adjusters and other stakeholders throughout the claims process, ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex issues related to insurance law, claims handling, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including claims adjusters, underwriters, and risk management, to effectively address legal issues and mitigate risks.
- Advise senior management on legal matters related to claims, including litigation strategies, risk assessments, and dispute resolution.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to any state bar.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on insurance law and claims management, preferably in-house.
- Proven track record of handling complex insurance claims and disputes, including litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
- Strong understanding of insurance industry practices, regulatory requirements, and claims handling procedures.
- Experience working with a variety of insurance products is highly desirable.
