Our client is seeking an Assembly Production Supervisor to lead their team in assembling end-of-line packaging equipment, including hooding machines, conveyors, and other automated systems..
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Lead assembly team(s) in assembling complex packaging machinery.
- Review/interpret drawings, electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and assembly work instructions.
- Coordinate and route tasks for wiring, cabling, and assembling various automation equipment.
- Oversee the organization of wiring on machines, in cable trays, and in electrical cabinets.
- Ensure proper alignment/securement of components with bolts, screws, or other hardware by the team.
- Conduct functional tests of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic assemblies using testing instruments.
- Troubleshoot and support the resolution of electrical/mechanical issues, ensuring effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines and contribute to safety improvements.
- Utilize ERP software for labor tracking, ensuring all hourly employees are clocked in correctly and assigned to the correct project/phase.
- Manage and flow out project assembly tasks using a project management platform.
- Ensure quality assurance of all machines built in the department.
- Contribute to the training of employees/technicians and ensure training is accomplished.
- Coordinate PTO schedules for their team to ensure adequate staffing for project assembly.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse.
- Perform random film or product testing for potential customers through the sales department.
Candidate Profile
- High School Diploma or technical degree.
- 7+ years of combined supervisory/management and experience in an assembly/industrial environment.
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings and schematics.
- General knowledge of electrical systems, pneumatics, mechanical drawings, and maintenance/repair.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in Lock-Out/Tag-Out rules and procedures.
- Experience with the use of an overhead crane and/or forklift.
- Mechanical skills (rigging, measuring, and use of standard hand tools).
- Experience with Microsoft Word and/or Excel.
- Strong strategic/tactical leadership and team management skills.
- Experience with automation equipment (motor installation, conveyor assembly, industrial robotics, etc.).
- Experience with Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLCs, electrical components, and motion control (VFDs/Servo).
- Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
- Problem-solving skills for electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic troubleshooting and de-bugging.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically 10-25%.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and "get the job done."
