Candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug screen/physical and must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States upon an offer of employment and/or hired.
Primary Function:
The Safety Manager is responsible for jobsite Safety and Training.
Duties:
- Serves as primary contact for Field Personnel regarding Safety and Risk functions.
- Must be able to tactfully address noncompliance issues with management, gaining their participation without encouraging defensiveness.
- Develop and deliver training in the field to reduce injuries and cost
- Conduct pre-job inspections and site safety inspections
- Prepare daily field site safety evaluations
- Must have an excellent eye for potential safety hazards, with a proven track record of proactively addressing safety issues.
- Conduct safety orientation training to new employees.
- Assist with weekly site safety meetings and inspections including appropriate documentation.
- Assist with pre-task planning.
- Guide field supervision in positive safety recognition.
- Conduct safety committee meetings as directed.
- Attend site meetings as appropriate with GC and other trades.
- Administer, establish and promote the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions.
- Recommend measures to reduce accidents and/or health hazards.
- Inspect facilities to detect or correct existing or potential hazards and initiate corrective action.
- Investigate work-related incidents, accidents and injuries / illnesses, and conduct interviews of industrially injured/ill employees, their supervisors, and relevant witnesses.
- Teach and promote increased safety awareness by both addressing unsafe behavior(s) and unsafe conditions.
- Must be able to research, evaluate and recommend all safety equipment and PPE use on jobsites.
Skills & Experience:
5-10 years Safety experience in Construction or a related industry
Experience with Safety management systems like Procore, BIM 360 or something similiar
Familiarity working on OCIP jobs
Proven track record in establishing strong partnerships with jobsite leaders
Must be able to provide clear instruction and be able to inspire safety awareness in others
Experienced in overseeing safety for entire job site or multiple job sites
Experience in a Union environment helpful but no required
College Degree desired but not required
Strong command of OSHA rules and regulations
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) are needed
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
Valid California Drivers License
Able to walk on uneven surfaces in various climatic conditions
