Position Summary:
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance activities of our clients packaging manufacturing plant. This role is critical in ensuring the optimal operation, safety, and efficiency of all machinery and equipment used in the production of packaging. The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of maintenance technicians, develop and implement maintenance schedules, and manage budgets related to maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to support their development.
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend the life of equipment.
- Schedule and oversee routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and upgrades to machinery, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
Equipment and Machinery Management:
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions in a timely manner to prevent production delays.
- Collaborate with the production team to identify areas for improvement in machinery efficiency and reliability
Budget and Inventory Management:
- Manage the maintenance department’s budget, including the procurement of spare parts, tools, and materials.
- Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts and ensure timely ordering of replacements to prevent production interruptions.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to safety, environmental standards, and maintenance practices.
- Lead safety initiatives within the maintenance department, including conducting regular safety audits and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving equipment performance and reducing maintenance costs through innovative solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.
- Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and external vendors.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may involve standing, walking, and handling tools for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
- The role will primarily be based in a manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery noise, dust, and other typical plant conditions.
- May require occasional weekend or evening work to address urgent maintenance issues.
