KSI Engineering, Inc. is looking for a Field Engineer with mechanical or electrical experience who is interested in joining a multi-disciplinary team focused on serving relationship-based clients and internal business units across multiple states.
KSI is a privately-owned, sole-source service provider of engineering, fabrication, construction, and maintenance services to multiple industries including upstream oil and gas production, natural gas treating and transportation, refining, co-generation, heavy industrial, utilities, water treatment, and all types of pipelines. The Field Engineer’s responsibilities will be focused on supporting our existing customer base in North Dakota in addition to internal stakeholders through the execution of a variety of projects and internal continuous improvement initiatives. As an EPC firm, project involvement would span from the FEED/scoping stage all the way through turnover & commissioning in the field.
Successful candidates will exhibit proven experience leading discipline-specific efforts of capital engineering & construction projects, exhibit strong communication & interpersonal skills, and possess strong problem-solving abilities.
Requirements, Education and Experience
- 4+ years of industry experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to report out of Minot, Tioga, or Williston, ND
Essential Job Functions
- Lead mechanical and/or electrical-specific efforts associated with projects and initiatives.
- Attend scoping & site walks with stakeholders and customers.
- Support project scope development and estimate preparation.
- Capture site-specific field conditions.
- Provide support to engineering, fabrication, and construction teams.
- Support discipline-specific project teams consisting of designers, drafters, and project engineers.
- Analyze technical drawings, interpreting specifications, and determining the discipline-specific requirements of a given project.
- Collaborating with drafters, designers, other engineers, and clients to ensure overall customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements
- Complete quality assurance on all drawings and projects
- Analyze and approve various construction and engineering plans.
- Diagnose problems and troubleshooting equipment.
- Substantiate the thorough planning, scheduling, and budgeting of the work required.
- Work with other disciplines and departments in problem solving.
- Follow all KSI Engineering, Inc. safety, and customer policies and procedures.
- Additional tasks as required.
- Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and write in English

- Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.)
- Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

Working Conditions: The work environment and working conditions described here are representative of those that are typical of the job and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
Working Hours: Normally, a full-time employee will work 40 hours per week, depending on the factors such as weather and schedules. Work schedules and hours may vary depending on specific client locations and projects. In general, applicable work schedules include modified 9/80 and 5-8’s. All labor laws in reference to rest breaks and meal periods will be followed.
