We are seeking a strategic thinker to lead our Portfolio Finance & Analysis function, ensuring robust analytical oversight and strategic financial planning aligning with our aggressive growth objectives.
Job Description:
The VP, Portfolio Finance will report directly to the COO/CFO and will be pivotal in shaping TheGP's financial strategy. This role requires a blend of deep financial acumen, strategic foresight, and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for our investment and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Modeling and Analysis:
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models for fund performance, investment scenarios, and cash flow management.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support investment decisions, including pro-forma capitalizations, liquidation scenarios, and merger models.
Investment Support:
- Collaborate closely with the investment team to provide critical financial modeling for transactions, including due diligence, valuation analysis, and post-investment monitoring.
- Interpret investment agreements to ensure financial models reflect all contractual obligations accurately.
Strategic Financial Planning:
- Lead the creation of fund models, multi-year investment plans, and quarterly forecasts.
- Perform variance analysis, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations to optimize investment decisions and fund performance.
Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports for leadership, annual meetings, and investor updates, highlighting key performance metrics and strategic insights.
- Develop investor models that effectively communicate fund performance and strategic initiatives.
Process Improvement and Automation:
- Implement systems and tools to enhance the efficiency of investment processes, focusing on automation to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy and accessibility.
- Lead initiatives to develop self-service financial tools for internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years in financial and investment analysis, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional analytical skills with a proven financial modeling and strategic analysis track record.
- Proven work experience in financial analysis, investment reporting, investment analysis, financial planning/budgeting
- Proficiency in U.S. GAAP and familiarity with venture capital financial structures.
- Strong leadership presence with excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial modeling software and databases.
- Knowledge of financial systems and ERP software beneficial.
