Focused on the hospitalities industry Central looks to provide a one stop, full services General Contracting experience. The Construction Estimator will become an integral part of both team and individual efforts to produce accurate and competitive estimates. This position requires in depth knowledge of all aspects associated with renovation of existing commercial hotel buildings. Success in this position will come from a combination of hard and soft skills including but not limited to the ability to cultivate relationships, communicated clearly, keep organized, properly scope, and maintain professionalism.
Central Interiors is looking for a Construction Estimator to join our Estimating Department. The Estimator will work closely with project teams and client agency personnel to ensure the successful development of cost estimates for a variety of projects. The ideal candidate should have experience evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we have all necessary documents required to successfully bid a project.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope and objectives of projects including hospitality, commercial, and mixed used developments.
- Conduct site visits and collect data on materials, labor, equipment, and other factors that may affect the project cost.
- Provide clear and detailed quantity take offs.
- Client communications throughout the bid process.
- Collecting, developing, and issuing request for information to the design team and distributing responses to subcontractors.
- Lead or assist in obtaining subcontractor and vendor quotations for Bids.
- Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner.
- Prepare and maintain subcontractor bid leveling documentation for review and discussion throughout the bid process.
- Assist project team in contract negotiations with subcontractors.
- Stay updated on current market prices, material costs, and industry trends.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation.
- After a project is awarded, ensure that site personnel are provided with proper detailed documentation related to the project, including subcontractor scopes and exclusions.
- Aid writing and issuing purchase order requests to the accounting department.
- Aid in scope dispute with trades, as well as, tracking and writing of change orders throughout the construction process.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in an Estimator role, specifically with General Contractors.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a construction-related field (preferred but not required).
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and other construction documents
- Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and market pricing
- Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details
- Familiarity with estimating software and proficiency in Microsoft Office
