Leaderstat is working with a premier not-for-profit, faith-based Life Plan Community located in Madison, Wisconsin that is looking for a Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the Skilled clinical team. Our client is deeply rooted in their mission to provide compassionate care and holistic services to seniors, fostering a sense of community, purpose, and dignity. As a Life Plan community, they offer a continuum of care, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care, designed to meet the evolving needs of their residents.
Position Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the clinical and administrative operations of the nursing department. The DON will ensure that residents receive high-quality, person-centered care while upholding the organization’s mission and values. This position requires a compassionate leader with strong clinical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to inspire and manage a dedicated team of nursing professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and manage the nursing staff to ensure quality care and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with leadership to maintain the community's mission-driven focus, emphasizing faith-based care principles.
- Oversee clinical care planning, assessment, and delivery of services in skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care settings.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including but not limited to CMS, DHS, and OSHA guidelines.
- Monitor and manage the budget for the nursing department, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, supporting ongoing staff education and development.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff, promoting a welcoming and respectful community environment.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and provide clinical leadership in decision-making.
- Ensure proper documentation, charting, and communication with healthcare providers, residents, and their families.
- Stay current with best practices in nursing care, senior living trends, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wisconsin (also open to Compact license and willingness to obtain Wisconsin)
- BSN required; MSN or healthcare administration experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of skilled nursing leadership experience
- Knowledge of not-for-profit and faith-based senior living operations is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for skilled nursing and memory care services.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, mission-focused, and committed to providing person-centered care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and other community leaders.
