Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Contract PV Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in photovoltaic system design and a deep understanding of solar technology. This position requires proficiency in AutoCAD and other design software to create detailed plans and layouts for solar projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design: Develop detailed PV system designs, including layouts, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- AutoCAD Expertise: Utilize AutoCAD to create precise and accurate drawings and schematics for PV systems, including site plans, electrical diagrams, and construction documents.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of design elements and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Site Assessment: Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary data for system design, including shading analysis, structural considerations, and electrical infrastructure evaluation.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including calculations, reports, and manuals, to support project development and permitting processes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet local, state, and national regulations, including NEC, UL, and other industry standards.
- Cost Estimation: Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets for projects by providing accurate material lists and labor requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in solar technology, industry best practices, and regulatory changes to continually improve design quality and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Proven experience in PV system design, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with additional design software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, solar technologies, and relevant industry standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Professional certification (e.g., NABCEP) is preferred but not required.
