Job Overview:
As our Shopify-focused eCommerce Webmaster, you'll be in charge of ensuring that our Shopify stores are running smoothly, both in terms of functionality and design. Your tasks will include managing website features, updating plugins, and making sure we’re compliant with WCAG 2.2 standards. Working closely with the eCommerce Director, you'll spearhead ongoing improvements, guide team members on best practices, and keep a sharp eye on both design and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shopify Store Management:
- Keep our website running seamlessly, from site navigation to user interactions and third-party tool integrations.
- Handle and update Shopify plugins to ensure they’re up-to-date and compatible.
- Perform regular site audits to troubleshoot and fix any performance or user experience issues.
- Website Optimization and Innovation:
- Explore and implement new technologies and trends to boost our website’s functionality and user experience.
- Monitor and enhance site speed and responsiveness for optimal performance.
- Design and Development:
- Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (1+ year experience) to customize and improve website features.
- Work with Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud to support design projects and ensure alignment with brand goals.
- Compliance and Accessibility:
- Ensure our website adheres to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards, making necessary adjustments to improve user accessibility.
- Stay up-to-date with accessibility standards and best practices, applying updates as required.
- Mentorship and Leadership:
- Mentor team members on web development and design best practices.
- Lead efforts to propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance our website.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Address and resolve minor technical issues with the Shopify platform, plugins, and integrations.
- Collaborate with third-party developers or Shopify support to tackle more complex technical challenges.
- Analytics and Reporting:
- Use web analytics tools to track site performance, traffic, and user behavior.
- Generate insightful reports and present findings to the eCommerce Director and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or relevant certificate in Web Development, Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: At least one year of experience with JavaScript, strong skills in CSS and HTML, and proven experience managing Shopify stores.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Shopify, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; experience with Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Web Analytics: Experience with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar) for data interpretation and decision-making.
- Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and experience implementing accessibility best practices.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor team members, with a proactive approach to driving innovation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working across teams.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities with a creative and analytical mindset.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Shopify Plus.
- Familiarity with additional design tools or development frameworks.
