LHH Recruitment Solutions has a Structural Engineer-Bridge Inspection Team Lead opening for our client in the Boston, MA area. This direct hire role focuses on bridge inspection, analysis, and structural engineering to facilitate bridge inspections. Candidates will oversee the highest quality project deliverables for bridge and culvert projects including but not limited to, replacements, rehabilitations, and preservations.
PE IS REQUIRED. Successful candidates will also have a minimum 5 years’ experience in bridge inspection, engineering design, bridge analysis, and bridge inspection. Proven experience in having a proven ability to facilitate compiling reporting and data, and experience in writing proposals also required. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with a BS in Structural or Civil Engineering.
Salary range: $85,000 to $110,000 DOE.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices related to bridge inspection.
- Maintain current NBI Standards while conducting inspections.
- Deliver highly detailed bridge inspection reports detailing support the structure’s existing condition using client specific templates, and forms.
- Have and maintain a solid working knowledge of structural engineering principles and utilize them including the ability to identify structural and hazardous issues and provide recommendations.
- Work independently or in a team performing design calculations, compiling estimates, specifications and creating bid documents for rehabilitation and/or replacement projects.
- Prepare and document bridge load rating calculations and reports using various analysis software.
- Reviewing drawings, submittals and RFIs while also providing field construction oversight and management.
- Monitoring, tracking, and managing project budgets and schedules.
- Assist and advise with proposal development.
- Attend meetings and interact with clients, consultants, and vendors as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year university.
- Minimum 5 years’ current/most recent experience with bridge inspections.
- Completion of FHWA-NHI-130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges).
- Proven experience with bridge load ratings with the use of analysis software.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
- Physically able and willing to perform field work year-round in adverse weather conditions.
- Physically able to carry ladders and gear, climb/work at heights, and work in water with waders.
