The Product Development Engineer – Systems is responsible for the design, development and support of systems related products including solar/battery, 110v/12v, fresh water, black drain, propane, and HVAC. This role will work in a cross functional team to deliver innovative and sustainable products to our customers in the Recreation Vehicle Industry.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure quality, sustainability and innovation are engineered into New Product Designs for RV related systems including, solar/battery, 110v/12v, fresh water, black drain, propane, and HVAC
- Plan, execute and document tests required to qualify systems materials and designs for production use.
- Create project schedules, report on progress, identify constraints and document risks.
- Establish an in-depth knowledge of RV code and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering on root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Research and implement cost, safety, and performance improvements in current systems.
- Able to analyze material and manufacturing cost impacts.
- Bill of Material creation and maintenance.
- 3D modeling and drafting of systems related components and assemblies.
- Ensure Manufacturing drawing books are accurate/updated.
- Assist Quality/Warranty with product design questions.
- Work with vendors to integrate new products and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Systems Experience – Solar/Battery, 110v/12v, Fresh Water, Black Drain, Propane and HVAC or related required.
- In-depth knowledge/experience in Solar/Battery systems a plus.
- Manufacturing and/or Recreational Vehicle background required.
- Minimum 2 years drawing experience using AutoCad Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D drawing program.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Production and Engineering environment.
- Must be skilled at trouble shooting and resolving systems problems that arise.
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and closely follow directions.
- Passion for the outdoor lifestyle leading to in-depth product knowledge a plus.
