Sr. Safety Manager

Summary:
The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for leading accident prevention initiatives and managing safety programs across all company locations. This role involves overseeing Workman’s Compensation, conducting safety training, managing external relationships with the insurance industry, and ensuring a safety culture where workers take responsibility for safety, ensuring “No one gets hurt.” The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Prevent accidents by identifying and addressing unsafe conditions.
- Lead safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA & EPA regulations.
- Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and uphold the company’s quality policy.
- Conduct safety inspections, safety reporting, and ensure corrective actions are implemented following near-miss incidents, accidents, and investigations.
- Lead and mentor safety professionals, fostering a self-responsible safety culture.
- Manage safety certifications (fork truck, welding, LOTO, CPR, etc.) and conduct required training.
- Oversee hazardous material protocols, including maintaining the MSDS file and ensuring EPA reporting.
- Promote continuous improvement and positive changes to safety processes and practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including managing surveillance and corrective actions.
Experience/Skills Desired:
- 10+ years of experience in safety management within a manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in ISO 9001 standards, behavioral-based safety, and environmental compliance.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in process improvement and cultural change.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is required.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- Experience in managing Workman’s Compensation and leading safety inspections.
- Experience with implementing efficiency improvements and supporting cost reductions.
