Responsibilities:
- Design robot mechanical systems (sheet metal, machined parts, weldments, metal castings, plastic injection moldings) using 3D CAD, generate release drawings for manufacture.
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), source control and other release documents in Agile.
- Select off-the-shelf components by analysis of specifications and testing.
- Perform static and dynamic analyses/simulations to predict system performance, natural frequency, life, etc.
- Work closely with fabrication suppliers to communicate design intent, receive feedback to improve manufacturability and reduce cost.
- Perform cost analysis on systems in development including manufactured costing, reduction of cost to existing products through design, tooling, and fabrication changes.
- Develop system test plans, perform design verification testing, reduce test data, and write test reports. Clearly and concisely report your work, present to your team and give recommendations.
- Work as part of a project team to develop products on schedule with desired quality and cost.
- Support our cross-functional colleagues to push our products from prototype design to fully-released, certified, documented products.
Job Requirements:
- Graduate degree in ME or BSME with equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in mechanical components and system design.
- Extensive 3D CAD experience designing moving mechanical systems with SolidWorks.
- Hands-on experience with product development from concept to production release.
- Experience with engineering materials, with a history of properly selecting materials that meet design requirements.
- Experience with inspection and measurement tools.
- Experience with bearings, gear boxes, motors and drivetrains.
- Working knowledge of electronics.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required.
- Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments.
- To conform with U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government.
- Preferred Experience: Solidworks Workgroup PDM, fabricating parts in a machine shop, robotics/mechatronics experience, Agile, Confluence, Jira and/or project management software
The annual salary range for this role in California is $150,000 - $175,000 a year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus program. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
