Apex Systems is seeking an Analytical Chemist for an immediate opening with a publicly traded American multinational pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical technologies corporation. The successful candidate will join the Analytical Characterization group within the company’s research and development organization. This role is in Raritan, NJ and relocation assistance is available.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) and Inherent Viscosity (IV) analysis of various polymer products and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) analysis of small organic compounds, additives, degradation products and impurities in complex polymer matrices.
- Development and validation of analytical methods.
- Maintaining good documentation and lab notebook per company procedures, maintaining good house- keeping of the lab, and conducting other laboratory tasks when assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree in Chemistry (Polymer, Analytical or Organic) or related scientific discipline with less than 2 years of industrial experience is required. (Post-doctoral experience not included)
- In-depth understanding and hands-on experience of GPC, HPLC and other chromatographic separation techniques are highly preferred.
- Experience with Empower 3 software is preferred.
- Experience with test method development and validation experience is preferred.
- Technical writing skills, effective communication and interpersonal / teamwork skills are required.
- Prior experience working in an analytical laboratory environment in a regulated industry (i.e., Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Biotech, Chemical, etc.) is preferred.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing is required.
