Brief Description of Work:
Under the direction of the Skyway Director (Director), the Maintenance Supervisor - Skyway is responsible for overseeing maintenance service technicians and utility staff responsible for the repair, upkeep, and cleaning of the Skyway Automated People Mover.
Essential Function(s):
Assign and schedule daily work to mechanics, service station employees, technicians and clerical staff who are engaged in the maintenance and repair of equipment.
Maintain daily work sheets. Prepare and prioritize assigned work orders. Report and record equipment defects.
Review work in progress, perform weekly quality control inspections, and ensure the preventive maintenance program is progressing according to schedule.
Assist department staff by answering questions and providing information relating to methods and procedures to be used. Assist mechanics in diagnosis and training. Perform cross training of jobs where feasible.
Maintain a variety of computerized records and prepare reports of work performed, repairs, materials used, fuel usage, daily reports, and work orders.
Maintain the shop and work area in a safe and neat manner.
Record all significant events involving operations or other activities that are controlled and monitored.
Coordinate with Supervisor of Skyway Operations and Maintenance Supervisor to schedule events such as modifications, retrofits, and/or extra service.
Monitor train movement by the Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) system. Monitor patrons in the system by closed circuit television.
Monitor and control the power configuration and distribution level of the guideway using a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA).
Ensure the safety and security of the system by following approved technical, operational and safety procedures.
Check and monitor alarms and related safety and security systems.
Research and assist with Skyway Special projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma supplemented by advanced technical training in transit vehicle maintenance.
Five (5) years of mechanical experience in the maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree in a Technology-related field from an accredited college or university and prior transit supervisory experience.

Knowledge of employee and labor relations and experience working with union employees.
Working knowledge of production, operations, and materials planning, practices, and processes.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and accident prevention methods in assigned area of responsibility.
Knowledge of methods, practices, tools, and equipment related to vehicle maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of parts inventories management and control.
Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, with employees of all levels within an organization.
Ability to balance capacities of different shops to maximize system effectiveness and efficiencies.
Ability to comprehend and apply operational and safety procedures.
Ability to complete a two-month driver training and certification program.
Ability to track work request through Oracle Network.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure in time-sensitive situations.
Ability to maintain a complex data base system for daily reports.
Ability to retain records, prepare reports, and maintain files.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The Maintenance Supervisor - Skyway is an in-office position requiring collaboration with colleagues and interaction with customers. The incumbent may be required to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to respond to emergencies or to meet operational needs.
