General Summary:
Supports manufacturing of chemical products. Follows established QC processes and creates new ones as part of continuous improvement. Supports other operations within the company in a technical role.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzes product samples as part of product quality control and maintains daily operations of the QC Lab (titrations, pH & conductivity, etc.)
- Supports activities of chemists within the R&D Group.
- Prepares standards and specifications for processes, products, and tests.
- Ensures all safe working procedures are followed and observed.
- Maintains a high standard of housekeeping as part of normal operations.
- Provides technical support to sales staff, co-workers and customers when needed.
- Conducts research on manufactured products to develop and improve products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Background Requirements:
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years professional experience preferred.
- Lab experience and computer skills are essential.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Requirements: Frequently required to stand; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Expected to react to odors, typically present in a chemical laboratory. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: Laboratory environment interfacing with Manufacturing. No travel expected.
