The successful Business Development Manager will work as an advisor to the executive team and will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and maintaining customer relationships. They will work with internal management to achieve business growth and objectives as well as go out in the world and tell the company story. To successfully deliver the right new business opportunities, this person will work collaboratively with all key players to enhance and grow the firm's footprint in the architectural space as well as in communities at home and abroad.
Qualifications:
- Proven ability to successfully navigate customers’ requirements and secure business for new projects
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, finance, business or marketing discipline preferred
- Strong previous business development experience in a related industry
- Ability to understand the current regional business climate and align an approach to achieve market leadership
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex concepts/technical information, "tell the story" and to make it easy for clients to understand
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a particular focus on communication, service orientation, and networking
- Work collaboratively and effectively as a team member; build relationships to facilitate goals and achievements
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize work assignments with critical deadlines; effective project management skills. Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Responsibilities:
- Help develop and foster business opportunities that result in organizational growth, including the development and performance of all business development activities to achieve sales revenue, sales profitability and budget objectives
- Implement strategies designed to expand market share in current and emerging markets
- Assist with complex negotiations, create and deliver presentations and successfully navigate to customer fulfillment
- Assist with managing very large, high-profile client accounts and projects
- Develop proposals and responses to request for quotes
- Contact with clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction
- Assist in the development of the annual business plan and strategies to ensure attainment of company goals and profitability
- Participate in regular meetings to review projects, activities, coordinate business development efforts and collaborate on marketing and branding opportunities
- Utilize existing standard operating procedures and best practices while continually pursuing opportunities for improvement.
