A leading law firm is seeking two junior to senior associates to join its CMBS (Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities) team. The ideal candidate will have 2-7 years of experience in commercial real estate finance litigation and related transactions, with an additional focus or interest in bankruptcy litigation being highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Discovery Projects: Manage all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to requests for production, interrogatories, and admissions; coordinating large-scale document reviews and productions; and preparing protective orders to safeguard client information.
- Motion-Related Work: Conduct thorough legal research, draft and file both routine and complex motions, including motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and motions in limine. Assist with the preparation of briefs, responses, and supporting documents for high-stakes commercial real estate finance litigation.
- Litigation Strategy & Case Management: Work closely with partners to develop litigation strategies, manage case timelines, and prepare for hearings and trials. Attend and assist with depositions, court conferences, and client meetings.
- Transactional Work: Assist with commercial real estate finance transactions, including negotiating, drafting, and reviewing loan documents, term sheets, and other related agreements. Work on loan origination, securitization, and refinancing of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). Ensure compliance with closing checklists, lender requirements, and post-closing obligations.
- Bankruptcy Litigation Support: Provide additional support for cases involving bankruptcy proceedings, including adversary proceedings, restructuring matters, and negotiations with creditors.
- Client Communication: Regularly update clients on case developments, prepare status reports, and participate in client strategy meetings to ensure their interests are protected throughout both litigation and transactional processes.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2-7 years in commercial real estate finance litigation and transactional work, or related fields.
- Skills: Strong research, writing, communication, and negotiation abilities.
- Education: Graduated from a top law school.
- Bar Admission: Required for the state corresponding to the office location (Chicago, Miami, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, or San Francisco).
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $245,000 - $295,000+ annually, based on experience and market conditions.
