LOCATION:
- Charlotte, NC - 4 days a week in office - South Charlotte
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Offer guidance and counsel on employment and workplace matters.
- Handle claims and charges related to employment issues, serving as the main contact for outside counsel when necessary.
- Provide legal advice and participate in or lead internal investigations.
- Advise on and contribute to projects related to compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local employment and privacy regulations for Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, FCRA, ADEA/OWBPA, OFCCP and WC.
- Conduct legal research, analyze issues, and offer opinions to management.
- Review and draft organizational policies and procedures, providing advice on their application.
- Possess expertise in retirement plans and ERISA compliance.
- Draft employment agreements and other employment-related documentation.
- Collaborate with the staffing team and hiring managers to maintain a fair, compliant, and consistent hiring process.
- Develop employment policies in partnership with HR.
- Partner with HR business leaders to promote positive employee relations.
- Support other corporate legal matters as required, including mergers and acquisitions and diversity/equity/inclusion initiatives.
- Promote Odyssey's culture throughout the department and company to align with its vision and purpose.
- Participate in special projects and take on additional duties as needed
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:
- J.D. Degree is a must with a Minimum of 5 years post-JD work experience as an employment law attorney required.
- Must be licensed to practice law in North Carolina
- Effective client-counseling skills, plus strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities required.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
