Overview:
Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a 50 year old multi-service not-for-profit organization based on the settlement house model and located in the Bronx. We provide resources for Bronx residents from cradle to career to advance education and well-being for a vibrant community. KHCC serves over 5,000 families annually with an inclusive environment for children with special needs, low-income families, recent immigrants, survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, and at-risk teens. KHCC helps participants overcome adversity and develop the skills they need to build bright futures.
The ISLA Programs Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the overall development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the SONYC Middle School Program, with a specialty focus on the Teen Leadership and Mentoring initiative, at the International School for Liberal Arts (ISLA). She/he will also support (as needed) the Student Success Center on the Walton Campus, Summer Bridge at the main site, and screening/assessment and short term intervention for students who need individualized supportive counseling. This is a year-round position.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the ISLA program director in all aspects of school based SONYC and Summer Rising programming, including outreach and recruitment, intake and registration, activity and curriculum development, and supervision of daily activities, students, and staff.
- Oversee administrative responsibilities specific to the Teen Leadership and Mentoring project, including 2-3 weekly activities, coordination of stipends, and liaison work with SYEP and/or Work, Learn, and Grow.
- Maintain strong communication and collaboration with key stakeholders, specifically school and center based staff as it pertains to referrals, new partnerships, Summer Bridge, counseling, etc..
- Collaborate with the ISLA program director in providing direct supervision for key program staff and volunteers, including group leaders, consultants, social work interns, and RJ fellows, etc.
- Support the KHCC College and Career office on the Walton campus with workshops, advising, and events as needed.
- Engage, build relationships with, and provide appropriate behavior management for youth via daily program activities for tween and teen participants; spearhead specific activities (i.e. Youth Leadership Council)
- Help oversee the implementation of parent engagement activities, such as parenting groups, workshops, and participant centered events.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including summer program assignments (i.e. Bridge), Supportive Counseling (funding permitting via Changing Futures), and other needs of the larger KHCC Youth Services Department.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; handle, or feel; talk, hear, smell or taste. On rare occasions it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
