The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for providing quality direct patient care including: screening, evaluation, development of initial & ongoing treatment plans, discharge plan and case management. The Occupational Therapist is also responsible for the clinical supervision of Occupational Therapist Assistants (OTA) and compliance of all professional standards.
DESCRIPTION
- Peachtree Hills Place: Buckhead, Atlanta
- Perform Occupational Therapy services as defined by Scope of Practice and State Practice Act
- Build a strong Occupational Therapy program for assigned client/s
- Optimize the functionality and skills of patients
- Responsible for the evaluation and treatment of residents after a written order received from Physician
- Screen facility residents
- Complete all necessary medical documentation
- Attend all required meetings and in-services, including but not limited to family meetings, care plans, staffing and utilization review
- In conjunction with the Director of Rehabilitation, develop programs appropriate to the needs of the facility residents through the continuum of care
- Compliant with all infection control procedures and environmental protocol while following Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) Resident’s Rights Guidelines
- Provide consultation and clinical supervision to Occupational Therapist Assistants (OTA)
- Responsible for appropriate scheduling of residents
- Educate and train families and staff on in-services
- Assist the facility in meeting standards necessary to maintain state and federal certification
- Required to perform a variety of duties relative to the job, some of which require a moderate to heavy category of physical demand
- Push/Pull up to 300lbs, stand, sit, sustained squatting, repetitive stooping, trunk twisting, sustained kneeling, sustained & repetitive forward reaching, stair climbing, walking, grasping, fine motor, lifting
- Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for the role and assigned by the manager/supervisor
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English
- Ability to maintain professionalism in all situations
- Strong time management and ability to manage multiple caseloads
- Ability to supervise OTA according to state regulations
- Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) knowledge
- Medicaid case-mix knowledge
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Master’s of Science degree or “grandfathered” equivalent certification in Occupational Therapy
- Current certification by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc (NBCOT), if required by State
- Maintain valid State License and awareness of issues related to the profession of Occupational Therapists (OT) and healthcare environment
- Must have a valid driver’s license or other means to commute between facilities assigned to work
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Senior Living and/or geriatric experience preferred
- Experience with therapy software, i.e. Electronic Patient Record (EMR)
