Job Summary:
As a Field Sales Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving growth and managing business in a defined territory. Your role will involve identifying potential customers, addressing application challenges, and developing both existing and new distribution partners. With a strong technical foundation in automation and control products, you will influence design decisions at end customers while educating them and our partners on product offerings. You will employ consultative selling techniques to propose the best solutions for clients, leveraging your engineering and sales expertise to establish lasting relationships.
Core Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain customer relationships through regular sales calls to existing and prospective clients.
- Enhance OEM business in alignment with the company strategy.
- Participate early in the customer design cycle to improve the likelihood of successful outcomes.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of closing sales.
- Log all activities in Salesforce, our chosen CRM.
- Collaborate with customers and product marketing to define and develop custom products, ensuring clear documentation of requirements.
- Troubleshoot issues at customer sites as needed, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
- Work with distributors and engineering teams to specify products.
- Communicate updates on new or improved products to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct training sessions for distributors and end-user OEMs on products and handle sales promotions.
- Prepare competitive quotes and assess opportunities for adding or reducing local distributors.
- Assist OEMs in technical design and implementation throughout the production stage while promoting products.
- Motivate distributor channels to enhance performance.
- Submit reports in a timely manner, and assist other territories as requested.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in technical sales, field engineering, or related roles.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Experience in B2B sales, preferably in technical or engineering-focused industries.
- Familiarity with sales methodologies and CRM systems.
Technical Skills:
- Strong technical aptitude with an understanding of engineering principles and technologies.
- Proficiency in presenting technical concepts and solutions to diverse audiences.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into actionable technical proposals.
- Familiarity with CAD software and technical documentation.
Sales Skills:
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
