As a Bilingual Complex Care Coordinator, you will focus on dental insurance, specifically within the Medicaid framework. In this role, you will be a vital liaison among patients, dental providers, and the Medicaid insurance program, ensuring that members receive appropriate dental care. You will assist with scheduling, authorizations, and guiding members through the complexities of their dental benefits.
The Care Coordination Team plays a crucial role in supporting members facing physical, mental, emotional, or social barriers to care, ensuring they receive the dental treatment necessary for optimal oral health. In addition to dental services, the team connects members with community resources to address their broader needs. Your efforts will directly influence key metrics, including benefit utilization and care for diabetic or pregnant members.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the main point of contact for Medicaid members with dental insurance inquiries
- Assist patients in understanding their dental benefits, coverage, and treatment options
- Coordinate patient care by scheduling dental appointments and follow-ups
- Collaborate with dental providers, Medicaid representatives, and patients to ensure timely and appropriate service delivery
- Verify patient eligibility for Medicaid dental benefits and assist in obtaining pre-authorizations or approvals for treatments
- Monitor patient progress and maintain regular communication with providers regarding ongoing treatment plans
- Help patients and providers navigate Medicaid claims processes, resolving issues related to denied claims, reimbursements, or incomplete documentation
- Ensure timely submission of claims and authorizations for dental procedures
- Educate patients on covered services under Medicaid and clarify any limitations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting interactions, care coordination efforts, and changes in coverage or treatment plans
- Follow up with patients post-treatment to confirm care was received and that there are no issues with Medicaid coverage
- Advocate for patients by identifying and addressing barriers to receiving appropriate dental care, such as transportation, language barriers, or scheduling conflicts
- Conduct outreach efforts to inform Medicaid members about their available dental benefits
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in health care management, social work, dental hygiene, dental assisting, or a related field preferred; or 4-6 years of relevant experience
- Bilingual in Spanish or Haitian Creole (required)
- 3+ years of experience in Medicaid, dental insurance, or healthcare coordination
- 3+ years of experience with Medicaid dental coverage and claims processes
- 3+ years of experience working with underserved, at-risk, and diverse populations
- 3+ years of experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- 3+ years of experience working with multiple systems and screens, including MS Office
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English and either Spanish or Haitian Creole
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience with Medicaid or government-funded health programs, preferred
- Knowledge of dental procedures, treatments, and terminology, preferred
- 6+ months of experience in a call center environment, preferred
