Position Summary
The Senior Mechanical Superintendent will oversee all mechanical aspects of commercial construction projects, focusing on plumbing and HVAC systems. This role will ensure that mechanical work is performed to the highest standards of quality and safety, and in line with project timelines and budgets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing mechanical subcontractors, coordinating with other trades, and ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all mechanical (plumbing and HVAC) activities on commercial construction projects from inception to completion.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure smooth execution of work.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Track and report on project progress, including labor, equipment, and material usage.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor quality control and ensure adherence to project schedules.
- Troubleshoot issues in the field and work with the project team to resolve challenges.
- Manage mechanical subcontractors and maintain positive relationships.
- Coordinate with the client and ensure their needs and expectations are met.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in the mechanical construction industry, specifically in plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Proven track record as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent on large commercial construction projects.
- Deep knowledge of mechanical systems, including plumbing, HVAC, piping, and associated controls.
- Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and construction best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LEED-certified projects or sustainable building practices.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
- Mechanical contractor’s license or relevant certifications.
