Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated Marine Electronics Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of navigation and communication equipment on marine vessels. As a customer-driven organization, we value professionalism and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair a variety of electronic systems on marine vessels, including:
- Navigation systems (e.g., GPS, chart plotters, radar)
- Communication devices (e.g., VHF, MF/HF radios, AIS)
- Camera systems for surveillance and monitoring
- 12VDC and 24VDC power systems
- Electronic controls and monitoring systems
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with electronic systems, including radar, VHF, MF/HF radios, and computer systems.
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as multi-meters, amp meters, and megger to identify and resolve electrical problems.
- Routine Maintenance and Inspections:
- Perform routine maintenance on communication and navigation equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Project Management:
- Manage assigned projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to safety and operational policies.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with customers regarding project status and requirements.
- On-Call Support:
- Be available for on-call support for a seven-day period, responding to urgent service requests as needed.
- Travel occasionally for service calls or project assignments.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety standards and operational policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in the electronic service industry is preferred.
- Prior military electronics training is a significant plus.
- FCC license is a big plus.
- Must be capable of acquiring a valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DWI convictions).
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Proficient in using multi-meters, amp meters, or megger.
- Basic mechanical skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new equipment and manufacturers.
