Overview:
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the sanitation operations in a food manufacturing facility. This role ensures that the plant meets all sanitation standards and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and clean environment for food production. The Sanitation Supervisor will lead a team of sanitation workers, ensure completion of cleaning schedules, and collaborate with other departments to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and Train Team Members: Supervise, train, and evaluate sanitation team members to ensure proper cleaning and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Develop and Implement Schedules: Create and manage sanitation schedules and procedures to maintain consistent cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Oversee Cleaning and Sanitizing: Oversee the cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, production areas, and facility grounds to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
• Ensure Compliance with Standards: Ensure all sanitation activities comply with company policies, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct Inspections: Perform regular inspections to verify cleanliness and sanitation standards, addressing any issues promptly.
• Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of cleaning activities, inspections, and corrective actions to ensure transparency and compliance.
• Manage Inventory: Oversee the inventory of sanitation supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock and timely reordering.
• Collaborate with Departments: Work closely with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to address and resolve sanitation issues.
• Promote Safety: Promote a culture of safety by ensuring adherence to safety protocols and addressing any safety hazards or incidents promptly.
• Ensure Proper Waste Disposal: Ensure proper disposal of waste and adherence to environmental regulations to maintain compliance and sustainability.
• Additional work as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; degree or certification in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a sanitation leadership role within the food manufacturing industry.
• Previous experience as a sanitation supervisor is preferred.
• Working knowledge of food manufacturing cleaning chemicals chemistry and associated applications.
• Experience with Food Safety Guidelines/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe practices and procedures
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Experience with HACCP Plans
• Understanding of government regulations (FDA, USDA)
• Food safety certifications highly preferred.
Physical Demands
• Frequent Movement: Regularly required to move around the facility to inspect equipment, supervise maintenance activities, and monitor the work environment. This includes walking, standing, and occasionally climbing ladders or stairs.
• Manual Dexterity: Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, operate, or feel tools and equipment. This may include tasks such as turning screws, operating machinery, and manipulating small components.
• Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally required to lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, including tools, equipment parts, and materials necessary for maintenance tasks.
• Environmental Conditions: Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to high noise levels, hot and cold temperatures, wet or humid conditions, and occasional exposure to fumes, dust, or airborne particles. May also involve working in confined spaces or at heights.
• Safety Awareness: Constant vigilance to maintain personal safety and the safety of the team. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
