About This Position:
We are seeking Assistant Engineers (2-4 years of experience) to complement our existing Engineering staff in our Site, Traffic, Transit, Highway, Structures and Construction Inspection Groups.
Responsibilities include: field work, traffic engineering and analysis of roadways and signals, structural analysis and design of bridges, design and layout of project components in 2d and 3d, preparing construction drawings and documents, field observation for adherence to construction plans and specifications, report writing and cost estimating. Proficiency with either AutoCAD or Microstation, Inroads, AutoTurn, Synchro, Vissim and GIS software a plus, but not required.
Essential Job Functions:
• Primary data collector in the field.
• Arrange and oversee data collection.
• Perform specific portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Perform standard computations and intermediate engineering analysis.
• Prepare drawings and visual aids.
• Observe construction activities.
• Maintain equipment inventory.
• Perform signal design tasks.
• Perform quantity estimates.
• Attend project meetings with senior staff.
• Responsible for writing report sections.
• Responsible for basic QA/QC tasks; review of own work, as well as reviewing the work of Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers and Technicians.
• Provide limited supervision to technicians.
• Coordination with municipalities/agencies regarding background volumes, accident data, signal timings, etc.
• Develop and analyze trip generation and volume.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program or an approved equivalent.
Member of a professional practice organization.
2 years of experience in a similar engineering role required.
