Position Overview:
As a Transportation Supervisor you will be responsible for providing daily leadership and support to CDL-A associates with varying levels of responsibility and job functions. The Supervisor is responsible for clearly and thoroughly communicating job expectations, ensuring proper training is provided, and maintaining high levels of accountability and follow through. The Transportation Supervisor is fully responsible for safety, quality, customer service, scheduling, sanitation, payroll/overtime, daily start-up meetings, compliance with regulatory requirements, and any other related transportation activity within their department.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees and drives the day to day performance of your team through leadership and interaction with all associates
- Drives for continual improvement in all safety-related responsibilities through transportation operations
- Analyze transportation operations, in conjunction with the Transportation Manager, to determine best dispatch practices that will achieve service objectives at the lowest possible costs.
- Ensure that company policies and procedures and directives from the Transportation Manager are implemented and followed on a timely basis by all members of the dispatch staff.
- Establish work schedules for the dispatch staff to ensure adequate coverage to meet business demands on all shifts.
- Maintain driver vacation schedules and determine staffing requirements in regards to requests from drivers for personal time off.
- Ensure that equipment is assigned in a manner that is consistent with company policies and in such a way that utilization is maximized.
- Communicate fully with superiors, subordinates and customers (internal and external) to promote and improve all transportation functions.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to work with suppliers, 3PL operations, operations, and internal customers on the best possible solution for the business and company initiatives
- Use various metrics to analyze performance results
- Provide regular performance updates to the senior leadership team
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Experience:
- Must have at least one (1) year of Transportation related experience
- Supervisory experience of mid to large team sizes – 15+ hourly associates
- DOT Rules & Regulation knowledge – Federal and State
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems such as but not limited to: Voice recognition technology (VoCollect), Employee Management systems (Dayforce/Ceridian), WIMS,E-mail, Voice mail etc
Environment:
- Warehouse Grocery – approx. 50F – 90F
- Warehouse Perishable – approx. 26F - 60F
- Warehouse Freezer – approx. 0F - -20F
Skills:
- Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies to all associates; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
- Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 75lbs.; the ability to operate required facility equipment
- Strong communication Skills: Ability to provide & receive constructive feedback; communication of expectations and directions clearly
