Key Responsibilities:
Distribution System Design:
- Design and engineer electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground lines, substations, transformers, switchgear, and associated equipment.
- Develop technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents for distribution projects, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, and ETAP for system modeling, analysis, and simulation.
Project Planning and Management:
- Collaborate with project managers, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets for distribution projects, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and field personnel to oversee the construction, testing, and commissioning of distribution facilities.
Technical Analysis and Optimization:
- Conduct load flow, voltage drop, and short circuit studies to analyze distribution system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Evaluate equipment selection, sizing, and configuration to optimize system reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Recommend upgrades, modifications, or enhancements to existing distribution infrastructure to accommodate growth, improve reliability, or meet regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance and Standards:
- Stay current with industry standards, codes, regulations, and best practices related to electrical distribution systems.
- Ensure that distribution designs and installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements such as NEC, NESC, and IEEE.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation, permits, and approvals to regulatory agencies as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on distribution system design and analysis.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, ETAP, or similar.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve technical problems independently.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
