We are looking for a talented Investment Associate to join our Private Equity Co-Investment Team in our New York office. The individual will be responsible for supporting senior investment professionals in the growth of our private equity co-investment activities, focused on buyout transactions and select venture capital and growth equity investments. The individual must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. In addition, the individual must be equally comfortable working independently as well as with a team to execute on the large investment opportunity set (c. 350 deals evaluated each year).
Partners Capital has allocated >$13B to private equity funds and co-investments, investing c.$1.5-2.0B in multiple primary funds and 10-15 co-investment deals annually. The Private Equity Co-Investment Team is the engine for identifying and underwriting attractive co-investment opportunities for inclusion in client portfolios.
The primary goal of the Private Equity Co-Investment Team is to deliver high absolute returns over the long-term by partnering with top-tier managers in direct investments. The team supports the growth of the Firm through innovation, creativity and continuous improvement of our investment program. The team’s mandate requires that we develop our people, our processes, and our systems to stay at the forefront of the investment management industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Investment Diligence – Support rigorous and comprehensive due diligence of direct co-investment opportunities. Stress-test managers’ assumptions and develop an independent view of the merits of the investment, particularly in the context of the manager’s mandate, skill, and experience. Execute upon the diligence work plan – diligence focuses on both the deal and the manager. Activities include analysis of management, markets, customers, suppliers, financial statements, operations, transaction comparables, structure, and other criteria that determine investment success. The Associate will review and assess comprehensive materials on the opportunity, including investment memos, financial models, third-party reports, etc. Further diligence may include sensitivity analysis of investment underwriting; qualitative assessments of the manager, investment process and research quality; and external referencing and triangulation. The diligence process concludes with a detailed written investment presentation for discussion among the team and with the investment committee.
- Process Management – Management of process is critical for our success. Responsibilities include deal tracking, supporting deal flow generation activities, and marketing / fundraising support.
- Preparation of Internal and External Investment Documentation – Create materials for investment committee consideration. Internal documentation includes transaction information, company / opportunity financial analyses, due diligence findings, investment recommendation, and preparing summary materials for client-facing teams / fundraising.
- Investment Monitoring and Portfolio Management – Support ongoing diligence and monitoring of the co-investment portfolio, including formal quarterly and annual reviews.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Responsible for ensuring all information security processes, policies and procedures are adhered to and any issues or concerns are raised with the Cyber Security team
- Ensure full compliance with all local data protection regulations and privacy controls, and any related issues are raised via the appropriate channels
Qualifications/Attributes
- Deep understanding and passion for investing and markets
- 1-3 years of work experience in investment banking or direct investing. Will also consider strong investment-oriented individuals with management consulting or similar backgrounds who have the required quantitative and practical (i.e., Excel) skillsets.

New York requires Partners Capital to include a reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role. This base salary range is specific to individuals applying to work in our New York office and takes into account a number of factors. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role in New York is $100,000 – $170,000. The base salary offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
