JOB TITLE: Lead Critical Facilities Technician
REPORTS TO: Facility Manager
SUMMARY:
Must qualify as a Lead Technician.
Under the direction of the Facility Manager (FM), this position requires extensive hands-on analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting of facility operations within Aligned Data Centers. This position is also responsible for the coordination and training of all team members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (to include, but not limited to):
- As LCFT, you will own your site during your scheduled shift. This means you will be the first point of escalation for all CFTs/CFMTs on shift. You will review and establish the daily workflow; directing and delegating to the on-shift techs to ensure a safe, organized, productive, and responsive day. All while maintaining constant knowledge of site health, and re-prioritizing tasks as needed.
- Monitor building operations and virtually tour properties constantly during scheduled shift. (BMS Rounds)
- Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns, and appropriately escalate.
- Respond immediately to site incidents (equipment failure, SLA violation, system deviation, etc.) and escalate based on severity level.
- Support the development and execution of new hire and ongoing training materials and programs to include the following areas: Qual Card, SNOW, BMS, procedure compliance and approvals, QA/QC, drills, and continued technical and safety training.
- Actively support the FM with coordination and management of team schedules, PTO, and shift swaps.
- Oversee and coordinate all Customer Service (SNOW) request to Operations; working with FM as needed to ensure proper process is followed for more complicated requests or projects.
- Work with the FM to support all construction projects and activities including: CR’s, safety, risk mitigation, and project handoff procedures.
- Responsible for site preventative maintenance on all site assets (critical and non-critical equipment). This includes organization, delegation, and quality assurance of in-house PMs; ensuring timely completion and proper WO (work order) tracking in CMMS, as well as assisting/delegating assistance for on-site completion of contracted PMs coordinated by the Maintenance Program Manager (MPM).
- Responsible for site predictive and corrective maintenance on all site assets (critical and non-critical equipment).This includes scheduling, research, collaboration with contractors, development of processes, quality assurance, and proper WO tracking in CMMS to ensure any deficiencies on site are resolved with urgency to minimize risk and impact to Customers.
- Support all areas of operation. Leads should have, and continue to develop, a solid understanding of how to safely operate/delegate operation of HVAC systems, plumbing installations, generators, UPSs, PDUs, STSs, electrical switchgear, fire detection and suppression systems, life safety systems, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems (including fire alarm, duress, card access, CCTV).
- Ensure all work performed on site is in strict accordance with governing MOP/SOP/EOP/CR procedures and maintenance work instructions. This includes proper completion of procedures with all necessary details notated, as well as proper long-term storage of completed procedures.
- Oversees work efforts of third-party work on site for safe and compliant operation; ensuring that safety review and scope review of all CRs takes place with third-party workers before work begins to verify all parties understand responsibilities and expectations.
- Work closely with FM and MPM to ensure proper parts are ordered for any predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance identified; as well as establishing and maintaining a robust and tracked inventory of critical spare parts for all system types.
- Understand the engineering design, operational aspects, and SOOs of all electrical systems, mechanical systems, and fire systems.
- Ensure a safe work environment by verifying site safety rules are always being followed by any individuals or groups on site. Call-out and stop unsafe work. Respond to and escalate any safety incidents.
- Work to develop and improve processes to ensure continuous innovation and improvement of Aligned’s operation and services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma and minimum 3-5 years’ experience in electrical or mechanical critical facilities support; or 7+ years’ experience as HVAC or mechanical technician.
- Electrical/Mechanical certifications preferred.
- Able to work overtime and longer shifts if needed at the site (greater than 12 hours)
- Computer skills required: MS Office.
