Pivot Precision is a privately owned (ISO 9001:2015 certified/climate controlled) machine shop located in Lockport NY. Our extensive manufacturing capabilities along with our highly qualified workforce has allowed Pivot to supply the automotive, medical, ammunition and firearm industries with specified precision tooling for over 50 years. We are seeking a skilled ID Grinder to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining industrial grinding machinery to produce precision parts to exact specifications. Your expertise in internal diameter grinding will be crucial in ensuring the highest quality of our products.
Job Responsibilities
· Operate ID (Internal Diameter) grinding machines to produce parts according to specified dimensions and finish.
· Select and mount appropriate grinding wheels and tools.
· Set up and adjust machine controls to obtain the required dimensions, alignments, and tolerances.
· Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence of operations and setup requirements.
· Measure parts using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure they meet specifications.
· Dress grinding wheels, as necessary, to maintain quality of parts.
· Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments.
· Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
· Work with engineers, machine operators, and other personnel to resolve machining or assembly issues.
· Monitor machine operations to detect any malfunctions and make necessary adjustments to correct problems.
· Handle, position, and move workpieces during the grinding process.
· Assist in the training of new or less experienced machine operators.
· Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as directed.
Job Requirements
· Previous experience operating ID grinding machines.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
· Knowledge of grinding wheel selection, dressing, and inspection.
· Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
· Understanding of metallurgy and material properties.
· Experience with CNC and manual ID grinding processes.
· Ability to set up, operate, and maintain ID grinding equipment.
· Strong attention to detail for producing high-precision components.
· Capable of performing mathematical calculations for dimensional requirements.
· Familiarity with safety standards and willingness to adhere to protective protocols.
· Ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical workload.
· Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues during grinding operations.
· Flexibility to work in shifts and for overtime as required.
· Good communication skills for effective teamwork and collaboration.
· Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development programs.

Compensation details: 23-28 Hourly Wage
