About the Role
The client is seeking a Business Development Manager to join its corporate team in San Antonio, Texas or Frederick, Maryland. This role focuses on expanding the company’s market presence, particularly within the Federal/DoD sectors, by identifying and securing new business opportunities. The successful candidate will contribute directly to the company's growth strategy and overall success.
Key Responsibilities
Market Positioning & Strategy:
- Develop and execute growth strategies for assigned domains to achieve sales and revenue goals. Build corporate market presence by identifying, developing, and closing Federal business opportunities.
Opportunity Pipeline:
- Build and maintain an active pipeline of opportunities, identifying competitive targets and 8(a) sole-source targets to meet strategic growth objectives.
Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with new customers and partners while nurturing existing ones.
Teaming & Collaboration:
- Lead the selection of teaming partners for new business opportunities. Collaborate with the proposal team, contributing to solution development, win themes, and proposal strategies.
Proposal Management:
- Lead Bid & Proposal efforts for assigned domains. Work closely with the proposal team to develop response formats and structures.
Research & Networking:
- Conduct market research and attend industry events such as Industry Days and pre-proposal conferences to gather relevant information for Federal/DoD opportunities.
Travel Requirement:
- Up to 25-35% travel is required for this role.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Business Development Manager or Capture Manager for a Federal/DoD contractor.
- Experience developing service-based proposals for DoD/Federal customers.
- Familiarity with federal opportunity sourcing tools such as SAM.Gov, FedConnect, Deltek GovWinIQ, etc.
Skills:
- Proven experience developing and executing bid strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, and SharePoint.
- Strong multitasking, strategic analysis, and critical thinking skills.
- Citizenship Requirement: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with 8(a) Federal contracting methods.
- Shipley training or equivalent knowledge in proposal development.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Information Technology
- Cybersecurity
- Data systems, data analytics, data modernization
- Professional services (e.g., SETA)
- Instructional design and training development/delivery
- Logistics
