Job Summary
Responsible for the completion of large-size, high-rigor capital construction projects. Uses formal project management methods to identify and coordinate project team activities including defining the scope of work, scheduling, estimating, and engineering. Manages costs and change control procedures and ensures project close-out and documentation processes are complete.
Ideal candidates will have experience managing projects using Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) project methodologies including Project Integration, Scope, Scheduling, Cost, Quality, Resource, Communications, Procurement, Risk, and Stakeholder Management.
Key Accountabilities
- Develops project scope and coordinates a team of specialists who provide project schedules, cost estimates, and engineering specifications for capital projects. Ensures the completion of installation, testing, commissioning into service, and project closeout.
- Responsible for project expenditures and the cost-effective procurement of labor, equipment, and materials: coordinates with authorized company representatives in conducting bid meetings and reviews, supplier selections, and evaluations; determines contracting strategy congruent with labor utilization strategies.
- Provides daily management of on-site construction activities, working with the general contractor or multiple contractors and service providers. Ensures timely completion of work within the approved budget.
- Communicates project status to all stakeholders, typically at the executive level. Engages appropriate stakeholders in decisions and ensures a clear understanding of direction and expectations.
- Evaluate conditions and apply solutions to control project risk.
- Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Completes documentation and record-keeping requirements.
- Monitors project budgets, manages financial approvals, coordinate capital escalations, and identifies cost-saving opportunities.
- Identifies project risks and develops mitigation strategies. Regularly assesses risks, updates risk registers, and communicates risk status to stakeholders.
- Monitor project schedules, milestones, and critical paths. Monitors progress against timelines and adjusts schedules as needed.
- Ensures adherence to legal, safety, and environmental regulations.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Multi-level:
- Associate PM: bachelor’s degree and the knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through 4-plus years of job-relevant experience.
- Capital PM: bachelor’s degree and the knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through 6-plus years of job-relevant experience.
- Senior Capital PM: bachelor’s degree and the knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through 7-plus years of job-relevant experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification also required.

Preferred: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Utility Experience
- Experienced with P6 Primavera
- Maximo proficiency
- Analysis of metrics on project deadlines, budgets, and deliverables
- Experience presenting strategic plans to all levels of leadership, including senior leaders.
- Hands on experience in managing renewable energy projects or large-scale projects.
- Proficiency in handling projects involving multi-disciplinary teams and many stakeholders.
