We are looking for several substation construction inspectors for various projects in the client's service territory. Must have a minimum of 10 years experience as an electrician building substations for distribution and transmission.
The candidate will perform duties that include maintenance, operation, installation, and testing of electrical and electronic equipment in electrical substations, electrical transmission systems, and electrical distribution systems.
Responsibilities
Include daily progress report on the construction activities, enforcement of the contract, verify that Owners specifications and practices are met, and review change order requests. Inspectors/technicians shall provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) support throughout the duration of the project including, but not limited to the following:
- Ensure all new construction is in conformance and compliance with plan specifications and governing codes, laws, rules and/or regulations.
- Notify Company of actual or proposed deviations to specifications and drawings so that changes can be evaluated by Company’s Engineer.
- Track all deviations to specifications and drawings for use in preparing “As-Built” plans
- Review and inspect work and materials installation in a timely manner so as to avoid disruption to the schedule or work already in place.
- Provide quality control of work, materials and equipment, and reject work that is substandard and/or which does not meet governing codes, laws, rules and/or regulations.
- Maintain repair item punch list that log actionable repairs that need correction by the construction contractor
- Immediately notify the Company and the Construction Contractor if any safety violations are observed.
- Footings depth, diameter, rebar size and quantity, bolt cages, hole stability, concrete material, placement, and finishing
- Materials and equipment inspection upon delivery
- Access roads and structure pad construction and soil compaction
- Transmission electrical connections
- Project permit compliance i.e. storm water pollution permit, threatened and endangered species protection, historical site preservation, fugitive dust abatement, etc.
Qualifications
Minimum of ten (10) years experience as a substation journeyman wireman or substation technician. Certified substation IBEW background; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Basic computer application skills. good verbal and written communication skills.
