Controls System Engineer
Detroit, MI (Hybrid)
Full-time (40/hrs)
$80,000+ (DOE)
As a Controls Systems Engineer, you will be joining the largest utility in Michigan supporting their Renewable Energy projects. You will be working in a hybrid work environment and when you are out in the field, you will be supporting the construction and connection of devices at renewable sites. As part of the Process controls & Technology team you will be responsible for control systems & computer systems for fossil, coal, gas, wind, & solar plant sites. This team will support advanced issues & upgrades.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer engineering, or Computer Science
- 2+ years of experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or SCADA systems
- Experience working with these systems in an industrial environment
- Experience with PLC’s (Siemens, ABB, Rockwell, etc.)
- Functional knowledge of interfacing to systems through Open Platform Communications (OPC)
- Bonus if you have experience working with computer-based software and hardware systems in a wind and solar environment
Responsibilities:
- Upgrade servers located in substations at wind parks
- I/O checkout during control upgrades
- Mapping tags to proper channels for equipment integration
- Support projects alongside other Control System Engineers while communicating with various power plant specialists & operators
