We are looking for an exceptional RN Manager to join our practice!
Physicians East, PA is a multi-specialty, multi-campus group based out of Greenville, NC offering a wide range of specialties. Location & commitments Full Time role based at our Greenville location with travel requirements to other Physicians East locations, Monday-Friday, 7:30a.m. 5:30 p.m. Early and late hours required. Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.
Supervision Received: Reports to Director of Operations.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids.
Typical Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
About the role The nurse manager is a full-time registered nurse who has responsibility and accountability for the clinical departments of the OBGYN pod(s). The nurse manager plans, organizes, and directs patient care. Maintains safe and effective standards with high quality of patient care.
Responsibilities : (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
- Directs and coordinates clinical operations at OBGYN locations.
- Serves as a liaison between employees, supervisors, managers, administration, and physicians.
- Meets on an as needed basis with supervisors, staff, and physicians for clinical planning, clinical development, clinical problem-solving and evaluation purposes.
- Develops clinical policies and procedures consistent with legal/regulatory requirements and professional standards for departmental and corporate purposes. Develops and maintains clinical consents, patient education materials and guidelines for clinical services.
- Evaluates the quality of care given to patients by staff through personal observation, staff competency testing, and feedback from physicians, patients, and other staff.
- Conducts performance evaluation appraisal conferences with direct clinical staff on a yearly basis and at other times as deemed necessary. Communicate with these staff on a formal and informal basis, initiating disciplinary action, as necessary.
- Maintains records of direct assigned staffs performance, concerns, and request for transfers.
- Maintains time and attendance and vacation requests for direct staff.
- Appoints, transfers, promotes, and terminates clinical employees as deemed necessary and assists fellow managers with these processes when a witness is necessary.
- Schedules and conducts potential interviews for clinical department. Selects new employees based on education, work experience and references.
- Reviews and authorizes outside continuing education for clinical employees. Maintains CE (Continuing Education) credits in employee file.
- Acts as a liaison between other departments and outside agencies for Physicians East sponsored events.
- Acts as liaison between nursing department and other departments for problem-solving, planning and developing methods to improve productivity and quality of care.
- Attends scheduled meetings, keeping other departments informed of nursing activities, needs or concerns.
- Chairs or attends Physicians East sponsored committee meetings.
- Accepts responsibility and accountability for Physicians East areas that store controlled substances following state and federal rules and regulations. Including: meeting with state and federal DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) inspectors on an as needed basis; maintaining written controlled substance records and current DEA regulations in nursing office; checking physical inventories for all controlled substances on a precise biennial period to ensure accuracy; filing reports to state and federal drug enforcement administration for any discrepancies or loss of controlled drugs with communication to Physicians East Corporate Administration.
- Reviews patient complaints as related to the clinical department. Follows-up with involved employee and physician. Returns calls to patients or family members involved to resolve the matter. Keeps related records on file. Communicates with Risk Management as needed.
- Collaborates with Quality and Safety manager on MOCK inspections of each nursing area for any OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) hazards or violations.
- Assists purchasing department with information for purchasing supplies and equipment to ensure an adequate supply of drugs, supplies and equipment to perform all procedures safely, efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.
- Works in clinical area on an as needed basis. Ensures desktops are maintained and clinical supervisors and team leads are trained.
- Attends external meetings for hospital admissions or other pertinent changes and relates information to department.
- Audits patient charts to ensure accuracy, completeness and documentation guidelines are followed. Audit may be performed on clinical staff and providers occurring randomly, during training periods and as concerns are reported that need clinical input to be investigated.
- Ensures clinical staff licenses and requirements are up to date.
- Assesses clinical supplies in the departments regularly to ensure inventory controls are in place and order thresholds are upheld. Address leakage opportunities and create workflows to prevent.
- Oversees the financial aspects of clinical supplies, including approving initial requests for new and replacement clinical supplies, monthly and controlling costs of clinical supplies.
- Works to ensure efficiency in clinical and patient workflows including the EMR (Electronic Medical Record).
Other duties: - Maintains patient and staff confidentially.
- Keeps corporate administration informed of high-risk situations.
- Demonstrates appropriate use in cleaning of equipment.
- Maintains licensure in accordance with North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Practices infection control, following OSHA guidelines and office policy.
- Maintains CPR certification.
- Attends fire safety classes, clinical meetings, compliance, and other continuing education classes as offered by Physicians East.
- Adheres to department and office policies.
Candidate requirements - Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred. Licensure: Must be registered with NCBON and in good standing.
