Dagen Personnel is recruiting an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for a construction company in Conroe, TX.
This is an in-office direct-hire opportunity.
Job Summary:
Responsible for planning, managing, and implementing company wide, health, safety and environmental processes to ensure all company objectives are met and that the company complies with applicable safe, health, and environmental regulations in the areas they do business.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and assists in the administration of the HSE annual business plan and schedule; proposes and monitors budget to ensure cost effective operation.
- Oversees the effectiveness of HSE programs, policies and procedures.
- Participates in inspections, audits, training, and accident investigations as required and periodically to observe the quality and effectiveness of HSE services; works directly with crews and safety staff to learn how to improve safety performance.
- Reviews risk assessments of equipment, and work methods, policies, and procedures to determine if adjustments are needed.
- Implements safety KPIs (i.e., TRIR, DART) across the company and measure on recurring basis.
- Maintains company records in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Maintains knowledge of current and pending regulations and statutes related to health, safety, and environmental affairs.
- Makes studies and analyses of incident causes and hazards to health for use by management.
- Consults with company leadership group on design and use of equipment and HSE processes.
- Keeps managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working under dangerous conditions and with potentially hazardous areas.
- Oversees and reviews the investigation of incidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, law suits, and insurance investigations.
- Compiles and submits incident reports required by company, customers and regulatory agencies.
- Creates, supervises, and coordinates training programs which will increase proficiency in HSE practices and promote safety consciousness.
- Represents the company to clients or in community or industry HSE groups and programs.
- Maintains HSE files and records.
- Leads benchmarking efforts to identify new performance standards and best practices.
- Emphasizes the use of statistical process control to achieve improved HSE standards.
- Reviews customer HSE standards as well as qualification and performance monitoring programs to ensure compliance.
Education, Training and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in HSE, Occupational Safety Management, Safety Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years work experience in HSE.
- Must have 5 years’ experience in managing a team of HSE professionals and the management of the HSE and/or Quality program
- Health and Safety experience with DOT, manufacturing and/or services environment and drilling rigs preferred.
- Strong knowledge and experience with OSHA, drug/alcohol testing programs and driver safety/MVR monitoring.
- Interpersonal relations and leadership skills a must.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
