About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VP/Director of Clinical Omics Service, with a strong background in NGS technologies and clinical genomics to join our team. The Director of Clinical Omics Service will lead operations of the clinical service team, focusing exclusively on clinical testing and services. The role is responsible for ensuring the lab complies with CLIA regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols while driving excellence in clinical service development and delivery. Also, as a technical/scientific leader of clinical service development, this individual will lead the expansion of clinical service offerings, and act as a key liaison between the laboratory and commercial teams.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Direct and manage daily operations of the CLIA laboratory, ensuring all testing is conducted according to CLIA and CAP guidelines.
- Lead the development and implementation of new clinical assays, from validation to full-scale operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance laboratory efficiency and service quality.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of laboratory staff.
- Collaborate with the research laboratory and commercial teams to align the clinical service operations with customer needs and business objectives.
Clinical Testing and Quality Control:
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of clinical test projects.
- Maintain quality control protocols, regularly reviewing and updating SOPs to reflect regulatory and technological changes.
- Monitor and supervise laboratory performance, including turnaround time (TAT), accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
Financial and Operational Oversight:
- Develop and manage the laboratory budget, ensuring cost-effective operation without compromising quality.
- Identify and implement new technologies to improve testing capabilities and service offerings.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with commercial teams to understand client needs and deliver exceptional clinical services.
- Represent the laboratory in client meetings and presentations to discuss service capabilities and project results.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the laboratory team.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biology, Bioinformatics or similar field.
- Familiarity with the latest NGS technology and a deep interest in and understanding of its clinical utility are required.
- 5+ years’ experience working in a NGS based molecular diagnostic clinical laboratory.
- English proficiency level appropriate for scientific writing.
- Excellent communication orally and in writing.
- Ability to conduct scientific interviews or compile training information.
- Qualification as CLIA laboratory personnel.
- MB(ASCP) Certification, including MLT or CLS certification, or comparable qualifications required.
- Experience in CLIA laboratory as a Technical Supervisor is preferred.
