A leading company in the electric mobility space, this organization offers a full suite of cutting-edge solutions, including battery management systems (BMS), on-board chargers, electric drivetrain inverters, and DC-DC converters. They also develop proprietary software algorithms and control structures to support their hardware.
Having recently secured major contracts with top mobility suppliers and OEMs in the U.S. and Europe, the company is experiencing significant growth. To support this expansion, they are looking to increase their team size and technical capabilities.
Position Overview:
The company is seeking a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join their team in the Austin, TX with flexibility for hybrid remote work. This is a full-time position that will focus on designing and testing high-power electronic systems and managing key projects in the power electronics domain.
The role requires running simulations, designing schematics and PCBs, overseeing power electronic circuit testing, and ensuring high-quality standards for all systems. The right candidate will have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and lead a team of engineers to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead model-based simulations and the design of power electronics systems, including high-power DC-DC converters and inverters.
- Design schematics and PCBs for power electronic components.
- Perform testing and validation of circuits, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
- Oversee multiple projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet technical and quality standards.
- Manage and mentor a team of hardware engineers and designers, providing technical guidance.
- Work closely with other teams to ensure seamless integration of electronics with mobility solutions.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in power electronics design, including schematics and PCB design.
- Expertise in using simulation tools such as Simulink, Pspice, Ltspice, and Powersim for power electronics.
- Proven experience in testing and optimizing electronic systems.
- Deep knowledge of DAB (dual active bridge) and resonant DC-DC converter topologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen analytical mindset.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing complex engineering projects.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
